Absence Management - Reduce Absence by 37%

Health Assured - The Holistic, Effective Approach

Our "joined up" approach is logical, effective and highly cost efficient - if you provide Income Protection Insurance for your staff, this can be funded by the possible reduction in your IP/PHI premium, linked to the implementation of the Health Assured Absence Management Plan.

The promotion of wellness and reduction of absence in the workplace cannot be delivered through the application of a process alone. The key drivers are the culture within the company and the genuine support of the senior management team to make a positive and lasting change.

Our proposition is unique and holistic. Unlike any other product currently available within the UK market, we effectively manage risk at the pre-employment stage, promote wellness, and highlight necessary health surveillance screening for the organisation. Then facilitate and fund the referral to a suitably qualified and experienced Occupational Health Physician to undertake independent medical assessments, when the employee hits an absence trigger.

The independent medical assessment is supported by a detailed medical report provided to the Referring Manager with a copy to the income protection insurer (if appropriate and subject to consent).

In summary, for as little as £19* per employee per annum (less than half the price of a typical Day 1 Absence Helpline), we will provide:

·      A Pre-employment Medical Screen for every new recruit

·      Online Health Assessments for every employee and their direct family members

·      Health Surveillance Audit - saving up to 60% on Health Surveillance Screening

·      Night Worker Questionnaire for every night worker, every year

·         Management Referrals to an Occupational Health Physician (400 across the UK) for every employee when they hit a pre-determined absence trigger. To review our exceptional Service Standards click here.

What are the Triggers

The triggers are generally accepted absence thresholds, at which point it is advisable to refer the individual for an Independent Medical Assessment. If the trigger criteria is met, the cost of the referral is funded by Health Assured as part of the Absence Plan.

  • The employee must have had at least 5 episodes of absence (linked to ill-health) within the last rolling 12 month period; or
  • Submitted a GP "Sick note" confirming a proposed absence for a continuous period of 21 days; or
  • Has confirmed a second period of absence within a rolling 12 month period for a condition linked to mental health, or a musculoskeletal condition; or
  • Has confirmed a period of absence greater than 6 weeks (or has been absent for a period of at least 6 weeks) and is subject to formal disciplinary procedures within the work place.

The Health Assured EAP Plus product provides human resource and line managers with a diagnosis and prognosis of an employee's medical and emotional wellbeing, in a structured, consistent and timely fashion across the entire UK.

The employee in question will be referred for an assessment with an Occupational Health Physician and a report will be issued to the referring manager within the business.

Health Assured has developed a network of over 400 qualified Occupational Health Physicians across the UK who deliver our Management Referral service according to our stipulated Service Level Agreement. Our network physicians have as a minimum the Diploma in Occupational Medicine; many hold the AFOM or MFOM qualification (Associate of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine/Member of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine).

Every report is subject to our rigorous quality assurance measures, which ensures that we address the specific issues raised at point of referral. Where required Health Assured will offer opinion where required, make recommendations and address the specific issues.  For more information, to request a call back, or a quotation please click here or call 01823 413003.
