Management Referral – National Coverage
Health Assured will provide human resource and line managers with a diagnosis and prognosis of an employee's medical and emotional wellbeing, in a clear, unambiguous and timely way across the entire UK.
The reasons for requiring an Independent Medical Assessment, are numerous, but typically include:
- Absence due to long-term sickness and a return to work date is unknown
- Returning to work after long-term absence
- Repeatedly absent for short periods
- Underperforming at work, where an underlying medical condition may be suspected
- Recovering from an injury/accident
- Suspected of substance abuse
The employee in question will be referred for an assessment with an Occupational Health Physician, with one of our 500, qualified and experienced Occupational Health Physicians across the country. A report will then be provided to the referring manager within the client organisation
Our network physicians have the Diploma in Occupational Medicine (Dip Occ) as a minimum qualification, but the majority are Associated of The Faculty of Occupational Medicine (AFOM) or, Members of the Faculty (MFOM).
To ensure that our service levels remain high, and to support our Clinical Supervision and governance function, we ask every physicians to produce evidence of their qualifications, and insurance indemnity status.
It is important to stress that our reports are consistently formatted to meet clients' specified requirements, and if selected at time of purchase (ad-hoc referrals and as part of the EAP Plus product) includes access to an Employment Law Barrister and up to £100,000 legal expenses indemnity cover
Every Report for Manager is subject to our rigorous Quality Assurance checks,, which ensures that we answer the specific questions raised by the client, and where required, Health Assured will give opinions, make recommendations and address the specific points.
Service Level Agreement
We understand fully that the timeline and quality of reporting, along with general service provision is a key issue within Occupational Health. Health Assured provides national coverage, and works to clear and transparent Service Levels:
- Referrals are accepted via our online portal, email, fax or post.
- The Referring Manager provides relevant information such as sickness absence information, job descriptions relating to the referred employee.
- On receipt of the request the individual's details will be recorded for monitoring purposes.
- Confirmation the claim is eligible will be made within 1 working day and an appointment will be made directly with the employee to see an OH physician, within 7 working days of the receipt of referral.
- A letter with the appointment details will be sent to the employee on the same day of the appointment being verbally confirmed with the employee.
- The referring manager will be notified of the appointment details via email (or telephone where email address is not available)
- The consultation will be booked to provide up to one hour clinical consultation if necessary
- The report to manager will be clear, concise and will address questions asked in the referral, including findings, recommendations and prognosis.
- Advice will be provided on the recommendations and reasonable adjustments including the type of duties that could be undertaken if fitness to work is in question.
- Where possible a likely date on which the employee could return to work will be stated.
- The report will be returned to the referring manager within 2 working days of the appointment.
Where a referring manager wishes to speak to the occupational physician, every effort will be made to ensure that it is during the same day as the appointment.
Access to Occupational Health Physicians, for the provision of Management Referrals is included as standard within The Health Assured EAP Plus product , terms and conditions do apply.
